Public transport
The express bus runs from Oslo Bus Terminal at 10:15 AM with a return from Kistefos at 5:00 PM. The journey takes 1 hour and 30 minutes from Oslo Bus Terminal, and the ticket costs 240 NOK one way.
Tickets must be purchased in advance at vybuss.no, the Vy Bus app, vy.no, or in the Vy app. Please note that the bus only runs if tickets are pre-booked.
Arriving by car
Kistefos is located one hour north-west of Oslo. There are two entrances to the park with parking on both sides. People with reduced mobility are asked to arrive from Entrance South.
Entrance South: Address: Kistefossveien 24. Arrival from Oslo via Klækken and Fylkesvei 241. Follow signs to Kistefos. See placement on Google Maps here.
Entrance North: Address, Samsmoveien 41. Arrival from Ringerike / Jevnaker, via E16 and Bergerfossvegen. . See placement on Google Maps here.

Join a drop-in guided tour
This summer Kistefos is offering drop-in guided tours with one of our knowledgeable guides, every day from 1 July to 4 August. The tour is called "Best of Kistefos" and gives you an introduction to Kistefos' history, The Twist and this year's exhibition, as well as selected highlights in the sculpture park.

Hurvin Anderson: Salon Paintings
Kistefos is delighted to announce the first solo exhibition in the Nordic countries of paintings and drawings by acclaimed British artist Hurvin Anderson. Salon Paintings surveys Anderson’s celebrated Barbershop Series, from the earliest Barbershop paintings and related Studio Drawings he made in 2006, through to new paintings on view for the first time with which the series culminates.

Kistefos is thrilled to present an immersive multi-channel video installation by the renowned Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist (b. 1962) in Nybruket Gallery. Through large video projections and digital manipulation, she has developed immersive installations that draw life from slow caressing showers of vivid colour tones.

Tatiana Trouvé is the Sculptor of the Year!
It is a pleasure to be able to announce the French-Italian artist Tatiana Trouvé (b. 1968 in Cosenza, Italy) as the sculptor of the year at Kistefos. For the season opening, Trouvé has created two site-specific works, which will be displayed in the historical Wood Pulp Mill.

Variants by Pierre Huyghe
Variants by Pierre Huyghe is now open for the season. The artwork is located on a previously inaccessible island and may be closed at short notice in case of rain or high water levels in the river. If you are visiting us specifically for Variants, we recommend contacting us in advance to ensure the artwork is open.

The Twist
The new fabulous museum at Kistefos, designed by world renowned architect Bjarke Ingels Group, BIG, opened Wednesday September 18th, 2019. The building has been named the top architectural museum project in the world to open in 2019, by both the Daily Telegraph and Bloomberg.

Sculpture park of international standing
The scenic sculpture park has an impressive collection of works by internationally renowned contemporary artists including Anish Kapoor, Jeppe Hein, Tony Cragg, Olafur Eliasson, Fernando Botero and Elmgreen & Dragset. The sculpture park focus is sight specific and international contemporary works of art and is available all year.

The history
A/S Kistefos Træsliperi was established by consul Anders Sveaas in 1889. The wood pulp mill produced wood pulp used in the European paper industry.
