Liquid Life

23. May – 17. October 2021

Liquid Life is a group exhibition presenting the works of seven international visual artists, a collaborative sound piece and a series of music and dance performances.

For a Future Adaptation of Giselle Willis battle of whatever forever by Cecile B Evans 2021 WIP production still supported by Ballet National de Marseille LAHORDE and l Ecole Nationale de Danse de Marseille

In the spirit of opening society and cultural arenas to the public again, we invite the audience into an exhibition that will evolve and grow from the soft opening until the end of June. People are in need of cultural experiences; for Kistefos it was important to open our doors. We invite the audience to join us in the journey of a dynamic exhibition in flux.

Inspired by a reflection on the relationship between humans and nature through postmodern ecology, eco-feminism and biology, the exhibition is also enrooted in the expression of ‘liquid modernity’, coined by the Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman to define a postmodern world governed by immediacy and communication, which erodes the anchored ties between people and bodies by revealing the fragility of a society based on individualism and constant change.

Presented inside the Twist and in its outdoor surroundings, the exhibition will connect the architecture of the building — a hypermodern jewel of architecture — and its natural environment — the mystical Norwegian woods —, staging a perfect example of the contrast yet entanglement between nature and humankind.
