The large-scale jars Quiet, Quiet and Mediterraneo stand next to each other and are both modeled on drawings by Kjell Nupen. They were chiseled out of their molds, before being painted by the artist. Therefore, the jars appear as a mixture of painting and sculpture.
The jar shape is traditionally perceived as a handicraft, i.e. an object intended to be used in a certain context. For carrying something - for instance water or wine - or to act as an urn in connection with funeral rites. In their present context, the jars solely function as decorative objects. However, placed on either side of the entrance to the museum’s café, they may be associated with a monumental portal.

51 The Twist Gallery
The Twist is a gallery, a bridge, and a sculpture, all in one. The 1000 square meter building twists into a sculptural form and spans 60 meters across the Randselva river. The building was designed by the Danish star architects BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group and is named as a "must-see" cultural destination by the New York Times, Bloomberg and The Telegraph, among others.

52 The wood pulp mill
The production at Kistefos stopped in 1955, but the buildings and machines have been preserved. Several of the machines have been set in motion once again, creating a "living factory" for Kistefos' visitors.
